Description : Herbs, erect, stout, glabrous, 0.9-1.5 m tall; stems rigid; branches angled, ribbed, quite smooth, shining. Leavesalternate, linear-oblong, 7.5-12.5 x 1.2-5.7 cm, quite glabrous, pale when dry, half amplexicaul at base. Heads 1.8-2.5 cm across; peduncles short, stout, angular, bracteate by linear leaves. Involucral bracts acicular, recurved, often tipped with black. Receptacular scales longer than achenes. Corolla 1.2-1.6 cm long. Achenes pale brown, compressed, ca 5 mm long, perfectly smooth, glossy; pappus absent or of a few bristles.
