Description | : | Perennial herb with a woody rootstock. Stems erect, slender, quadrangular, leafy below, simple or branched, 15-50 cm, with an indumentum of short spreading hairs. Leaves obovate to oblong-elliptic, 4-8 x 1-3 cm, inconspicuously gland-dotted, crenulate to serrulate, cuneate, sessile, apex rounded or acute, with short multicellular hairs or glabrescent. Inflorescence unbranched or branched. Verticillasters 10-20, forming long rather slender racemes, 4-8-flowered, distant. Bracts 2-2.5 mm, ovate. Pedicels 1.5-3 mm. Calyx tubular, c. 4.5 mm in flower, expanding in fruit to 9-10 mm, deflexed and curved, tubular campanulate; throat glabrous; lateral teeth in fruit broadly ovate-triangular, c. 1.5 mm; lower teeth narrow triangular-subulate, c. 2.5 mm. Corolla white or pink, c. 12 mm; tube clearly exserted beyond calyx teeth. Stamens included. Nutlets ovoid-globose, 1.5 x 1.2 mm apically rounded, finely punctulate, mucilaginous on wetting. |
