Description : Decumbent herbs; stem much branched. Leaves narrow-lanceolate, 6-8 x 0.8-1 cm, acuminate at apex, round to cordate at base; sheath 2.5-3 cm long. Cymes penduculate; peduncle 2.5-3 cm long. Spathe 3-3.5 x 1.5-2 cm, ovate, caudate acuminate at apex, united at the lower margins; upper branches of cymes to 2 cm long, lower 0.5-1 cm long. Flowers blue, 0.5-0.7 cm across. Sepals 3, membranous, the 2 inner often connate at the base. Petals 3, longer, 2 of them usually larger and long-clawed, the 3 rd sometimes absent. Stamens 3 perfect and 2-3 imperfect; filaments filiform, often spirally coiled; anthers oblong, one usually larger than the rest, the imperfect often cruciform. Capsule ovoid, 3-celled, 0.3-0.4 cm long; seeds cylindric, truncate.
