Description : Herbs up to 15 cm tall. Leaves opposite decussate, flowers blue axillary. Low herb; stem subterete, faintly winged. Leaves ovate, rarely obovate, 0.6-1.8 x 0.3-1.2 cm, estipulate, 3-ribbed, stem-clasping, midrib faintly winged below, base obtuse, apex acute. Cymes to 2 cm, to 3-flowered; peduncles to 1.5 cm. Calyx-lobes 4, elliptic, 5 x 2 mm, glabrous, apiculate. Corolla rose; tube 1 mm; lobes 4, elliptic-oblong, 0.6 x 0.2 cm, twisted; nectaries 2 per lobe, basal, oblong, 3 mm wide. Stamens 4; filaments narrowly winged. Ovary 1-celled; ovules numerous, on parietal placentae; stigma sessile, 2-lobed.
