Description : Erect undershrubs, densely hirsute all over. Leaves to 18 cm long, usually with 3-5 pairs of leaflets; leaflets 3.5-6 x 2-3.5 cm, ovate or elliptic, base rounded, apex acuminate, silky hairy on both sides; rachis 8-12 cm long, a large black gland on the rachis just below the lowest leaflets; stipules 5-8 mm long, linear-lanceolate. Flowers yellow, c.1.5 cm across, in axillary and terminal few-flowered racemes; pedicels 1-1.4 cm long; bracts linear. Sepals 5, 5-8 mm long, oblong, densely hairy without. Petals 5, 0.8-1 cm long, obovate, obtuse. Stamens 10 , unequal, 6 or 7 fertile. Ovary 2-2.5 mm long, tomentose; ovules many; style glabrous. Pods 10-15 x 0.6-0.8 cm, linear, subterete, curved, densely hirsute. Seeds many, c. 3 x 2.5 mm, orbicular, compressed, light brown.

Medicinal Use / Activity : The leaves are used medicinally for treating kidney disorders and herpes. An infusion is an effective remedy for renal calculi. An infusion of the leaves is applied externally to treat skin disorders and cracked nipples. The root is tonic. A tincture of the root is rubbed onto rheumatic areas.
